SGT Dunson is an American political commentator, combat veteran, recording artist, author, and public speaker whose work is centered on one guiding principle: truth above political parties.
Drawing from his experiences on the battlefield, in higher education, and in public discourse, SGT Dunson examines America's most pressing issues through the lenses of constitutional government, military leadership, history, and practical solutions. His commentary is grounded in the belief that good ideas should be embraced regardless of political affiliation and that policies should ultimately be judged by the results they produce for the American people.
Over the past two decades, SGT Dunson has established himself as a nationally recognized public figure whose work has reached audiences across television, radio, print, and digital media. His commentary has been featured by major national outlets including CNN, Fox News, the Associated Press, HuffPost, Real Time with Bill Maher, The View, Fox & Friends, Hannity, Morning Joe, Larry King Live, The Daily Show, and numerous other national television and radio programs. As both a writer and commentator, his articles have also appeared in publications including Conservative Daily Post and Liberty Writers News.
Today, through SGT Dunson: Debriefing, he continues that mission by providing thoughtful political analysis rooted in facts, constitutional principles, and independent thinking rather than partisan loyalty.
MILITARY SERVICE
United States Army Combat Veteran
Military service is the foundation upon which SGT Dunson's leadership philosophy was built.
In September 2003, he enlisted in the United States Army as an Infantryman (11B), completing One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Georgia. Following graduation, he was assigned to the 172nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 1st Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment, Bravo Company, 1st Platoon, where he trained extensively in Alaska before deploying in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
In August 2005, his unit deployed to Mosul, Iraq, conducting combat patrols, counterinsurgency operations, route security missions, and weapons cache searches in one of the most dangerous regions of the country. During the deployment, he was promoted to Sergeant while serving in combat. When his unit's original twelve-month deployment concluded, the brigade became part of one of the most well-known deployment extensions of the Iraq War, serving a total of sixteen months after being redirected to Baghdad to help stabilize escalating sectarian violence.
For extraordinary heroism during combat operations, the 172nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team was awarded the Valorous Unit Award, one of the Army's highest unit decorations.
Throughout his military career, SGT Dunson earned numerous awards and qualifications, including the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Expert Marksmanship Badge, Expert Grenade Badge, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and multiple additional service ribbons and professional development awards.
His experiences leading soldiers in combat continue to shape his views on leadership, foreign policy, national defense, veterans' issues, and the importance of responsible government.
EDUCATION
Lifelong Student of Leadership and Government
Following his military service, SGT Dunson committed himself to education, believing that effective leadership requires continuous learning.
He earned an Associate of Arts from the College of Southern Nevada, followed by a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he focused on American government, political institutions, constitutional law, and public policy.
Recognizing the importance of ethical leadership, he later completed a Master of Arts in Applied Ministry from Liberty University, graduating with honors while studying organizational leadership, communication, and biblical worldview.
Together, these academic experiences complement his military background and provide the foundation for his commentary on politics, constitutional government, leadership, economics, foreign affairs, and public policy.

His music explores themes often overlooked in mainstream entertainment, including combat, military service, patriotism, faith, personal responsibility, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and the difficult transition from military life back into civilian society.
He is also the author of God Healed My PTSD, a personal account of overcoming the invisible wounds of war through faith, perseverance, and purpose.
Rather than glorifying violence or despair, SGT Dunson's music has always sought to encourage those facing life's greatest struggles. His goal has been to remind veterans, first responders, and anyone battling depression, anxiety, trauma, or hopelessness that healing is possible, purpose can be rediscovered, and adversity does not have to define the rest of one's life.
